Born in the Philippines and raised on the island of Guam, Arnel has been creating art since he was 9 years old. He enjoys long walks in the park, sunsets, and the works of Alphonse Mucha.

- Princess of the Amazons –

I absolutely love the work of Alphonse Mucha, look him up, you’ll be doing yourself a favor. So for my next comic book piece I really wanted to emulate that art nouveau sensibility. Up to this point I’ve been doing a lot of male characters exclusively from one comic book publsiher (Marvel). With this piece I wanted to deviate from that completely and try a female character from DC comics. Wonder Woman has always been one of DC’s main characters and I’ve always wanted to try my hand at drawing her. I started her off traditionally with pencil, scanned the pencils and painted it in Photoshop. All of the Art Nouveau design work was done in Illustrator.

I hope you guys like it.

A Journey to the Amazon.

Man it’s getting hard to think up new blog post titles. :D

I thought you guys would dig this little animation of the process work for Wonder Woman.

The God of Thunder!

I loved the Thor film! Cast and crew did a great job of bringing the comic book to life. Here is my small contribution to “Thormania”! I started this piece with Non-Photo Blue, inked it with some Pitt pens, and painted it digitally with Photoshop.

He was the first…

I’ve been really excited about the new Captain America movie which is slated to come out this summer.

In honor of such an event, I decided to do a vintage style poster for Cap. I started this project out with some non-photo blue, lined it with graphite, and finished it off with color and effects in Photoshop and Illustrator. I had it printed fairly large (20″x30″) on canvas and the owner of my local comic shop, @MaximumComics, was gracious enough to display it. Thanks a billion Jay!

I’ll post the finished digital product, along with a small gift, soon. Cheers!

B W O M P .

I started this sketch of my buddy @duhveeed eons ago. I started it using a lead holder with some red lead, and ended up finishing it with some watercolor and photoshop magic.

If your wondering what BWOMP means just listen to some dubstep. Finna turned out pretty good. Hella.

GUESS WHO’S BACK!

Apologies for the lack of updates. Gosh the last time I updated the ol’ blog was November of last year; that is just disgraceful. Well now that I’m all graduated from college (Thank you, thank you) I’ll try and keep the site more updated with projects and sketches that I have been working on.

First up, a sketch of my buddy Gary with some Photoshop love for your viewing pleasure:

Irvin Kershner 1923-2010

The director of probably my favorite film in the entire Star Wars saga (The Empire Strikes Back) has passed away. Rest in peace sir. You will be missed.

A Q U A S O D I O

A friend of mine, Cara (@aquasodio), asked me to do a portrait of her about a century ago. You can check out her website at www.aquasodio.com. I was so pumped with the results of yesterday’s painting that I finally got on the ball and started on it.

Like yesterday’s piece I did the line work in pencil, skipping the inking process entirely, then just finished it off digitally in Photoshop.
